He had successfully launched a shop-fitting business in 1989. However, amidst an economic downturn, Mark recognised that lighting was an indispensable part of everyone's daily lives. It was during this time that he stumbled upon the true vision for About Space. Recognising the significance of lighting in our lives inspired him to venture into the world of luminaires. 

About Space officially came into existence in 2009, swiftly evolving into one of Australia’s most celebrated luminaire destinations. Mark's vision was clear from the start - to provide decorative, architectural, and commercial lighting solutions that were not just functional but also innovative and aesthetically pleasing. This vision set the foundation for a remarkable journey for About Space. 

Mark's Role in the Business 

Mark’s role as the Founder and Director of About Space has been pivotal in the company's success. He doesn't merely select lights off the shelf; instead, he collaborates closely with the team and our clients to craft unique lighting solutions tailored to their specific needs. Mark's favourite creation to date is the 2By Collection, a testament to About Space's commitment to original Australian-made lighting solutions. These elegant linear LED pendant lights feature a combination of sharp angles and elongated shapes, with FSC-certified Victorian ash timber, recessed LED profiles, and brass and aluminium elements.
